Strolling through Nordstrom one rainy Seattle day, I came across the most gorgeous Marc Jacobs coat from his Fall/Winter 2016 collection. The coat was a varsity bomber jacket complete with adorable little charms sewn on the front. I knew the jacket would be waaaaaaay out of my price range, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and do it myself! I estimated I paid just under $100 for the jacket and all the brooches. Well worth the fun and compliments I’ve gotten from this DIY bomber jacket. You can do it too!…
1.) Purchase a low-cost bomber jacket from your favorite retailer. I found this burgundy satin bomber jacket for sale on necessaryclothing.com.
2.) Go on etsy.com and do a search for “vintage brooch lot.” A bunch of fantastic choices of vintage brooches in various styles will come up in your search. I searched specifically for “gold brooch lot,” but you can choose any type of brooches you like. I ordered two brooch lots along with some brooches that I purchased separately on etsy.com.
3.) Once the all brooches and jacket arrived, I laid the bomber jacket flat and placed the brooches on the jacket in a style to my liking, and then pinned away (as in pinning a brooch to my jacket, not pinning on Pinterest ;). Voila! An adorable Marc Jacobs knock-off bomber jacket, complete with vintage brooches that won’t break the bank.
No, really it’s cold outside! 35 degrees and dropping to be exact. I know for many in the USA and beyond, 35 degrees is laughable (a heat wave for those of you on the East Coast), but not for this fair-weathered Northwestern girl! My boots literally stuck to the frost outside. There were a few hysterical shots of me almost falling on my face in the frosty grass, but I will keep those to myself. Ok, so enough bitching about the weather! Let’s talk about my outfit! One of my favorite colors in the world is emerald green, and I was lucky enough to snag this gorgeous pleated skirt from Asos, before it sold out in my size. I paired it with my beloved Maje leather jacket bought in Paris this summer, my knit circle scarf bought off etsy, and a pair of festive emerald colored & rhinestone shoulder duster earrings from Asos. I also got out my silver vintage clutch, leather fingerless gloves bought in Florence, and my Maison Margiela for H&M leather booties with the clear lucite heel. I have a huge obsession with anything lucite, especially shoes with lucite heels. I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing this ensemble to a holiday party or two. Enjoy!
The “Golden Rule” is all about treating others with warmth and respect, especially during the holiday season. So why not celebrate this season’s altruism with a sparkling outfit of gold and black? Ok, I know the black doesn’t fit into the cheeriness of the holiday season, but black is still awesome and goes with almost everything. Plus it is a fantastic contrast with the gold bomber jacket, so I’m going with the black and gold look here. I wore this outfit to a holiday party and it did not disappoint, despite having to loosen the Gucci belt after eating too much delicious Holiday food!

One of my very favorite looks for any time of year is mixing black & white. Whether it’s with lace, prints, or leather, the high contrast look is always sharp. I took the top I ordered at Asos and added small white, pearl buttons, along with a silk bow tie pin to give it a more stylish edge. I paired the blouse with my Scotch & Soda sailor pants, beloved Chanel boots, Maje Leather jacket bought in Paris, with my 3.1 Phillip Lim bagand Prada sun glasses. Don’t forget the Saint Laurent tassel key chain! The key chain gives the gorgeous bag more detail. This is one of my favorite outfits I have worn this fall!
Guys, I’m really excited to be starting this new adventure in blogging! I’ve been wanting to do this for a long, long time, but my schedule didn’t allow at the time. I’m finally doing this! No more excuses and better late than never, right? Regardless of where this takes me, I hope to show you some of my personal style, travel photos, as well as home and lifestyle shots. I want this blog to not be about “making money,” (although I’ll take it if it comes my way!), but an outlet for my creativity as well as making new stylish friends along the way. Nothing makes me happier than enjoying life with great people and places, while doing it in style! Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog! XO, Kelsey
